Connecting Performers to their Breath

Inviting the body and our breath to come together as one

“Most of us are not raised to actively encounter our destiny. We may not know that we have one. As children, we are seldom told we have a place in life that is uniquely ours alone. Instead, we are encouraged to believe that our life should somehow fulfill the expectations of others, that we will (or should) find our satisfactions as they have found theirs. Rather than being taugh to ask ourselves who we are, we are schooled to ask others. We are, in effect, trained to listen to others’ versions of ourselves. We are brought up in our life as told to us by someone else! When we survey our lives, seeking to fulfill our creativity, we often see we had a dream that went glimmering because we believed, and those around us believed, that the dream was beyond our reach. Many of us would have been, or at least might have been, done, tried something, if…
If we had known who we really were.”
― Julia Cameron, The Artist’s Way

I grew up on the stage.

My first show was the Music Man for Brampton Musical Society, I was a grade 7 kid who commuted an hour one way for rehearsals which I thought was the biggest theatre I had ever seen. From the age of 13 – 33, I navigated performances, workshops, auditions, and classes trying to get the part and perform at my best.

As you can see, my background is rooted in the arts as a musical theatre performer which led me into a 12-year career in the corporate sector where I specialized in Client Relations.

I understand People.

As a double-certified breathwork practitioner, I understand the journey of harnessing our breath to navigate the emotional and mental bodies that can make the journey of a young performer complex and overwhelming.  I work with the breath and invite my artist clients to surrender into the somatic experience, to support themselves by inviting their breath to show them the way.  When we allow the breath in, we begin to understand the importance of our body and breath connection – to be present and clear in our embodiment of any artistic piece we have taken on.

Work with me

Classroom/Company Breathwork

Breathwork has been scientifically proven to improve teamwork, creativity, and productivity while creating stronger bonds among groups. The difference can be felt in one session – each performer will breathe through whatever blocks they have been experiencing and ultimately show up in a healthier more productive way for their role in their program/company/ cast.

Breathwork Mentoring for Performers

Min 4 Week Program | Mentoring Performers in consciously connecting with their breath and their body:

Together we provide artists to fully align with their breath and their bodies to take them beyond the stage and into everyday life. We will work through what they “believe” is “showing up” for them daily in their practice and program. We will examine the biggest blocks that they feel they can identify with and work through them step, by step.

I didn’t know what to expect during my soul retrieval practice with Rebecca, so I had no expectations. During my session, all I remember experiencing is my time in the woods with my Spirit Animal and meeting Rebecca’s. I guess Rebecca’s was telling her a lot about our chat, since she told me things that seemed to make me feel like I found something that was missing, and a kind of loving peace in being ok with the unknown. Only now, do I understand how a part of my soul was broken and it was needed to make me complete for this path that I’m on. Because not long after, my life started to make sense. The pieces started fitting together and a new freedom is felt within. Thank you so much friend, for helping me find what was lost. I now feel like I’m living the path that was laid down for me to walk on.

Breathwork with Rebecca is a deeply transformational experience like no other. She has such a gift for holding safe space for you to feel, be exactly as you are and let go to allow the healing to happen. Rebecca guided me on a powerful womb medicine journey that was very impactful in helping me heal my shame and fear around stepping more fully into my feminine power and honouring my body and essence. I cannot say enough good things about her. I’ve worked with many practitioners over the years but Rebecca has a very special gift. If you need support moving through something in your life and need someone who is a wise guide, I highly recommend working with Rebecca.

During my holidays, I had a moment of feeling anxiousness and exceptionally ungrounded. From Thailand, I asked Rebecca if she was able to provide me with a distant healing session and it made my 30 hour of travel feel even more comfortable than a first class flight! Even after my trip, I felt back at home in my body and was able to regulate myself very quickly. Rebecca is a kind and gifted healer and I feel very privileged to had experienced her treatments.

I wasn’t 100% sure what to expect from breath work and I felt a little nervous about the unknown. However, upon engaging with Rebecca I felt comfortable and safe. Rebecca has an amazing energy, and naturally holds space. I felt I could completely let go and be present as she guided me through the experience. Rebecca is a gifted facilitator, who is truly attuned to the process of this work. Anyone who chooses to engage in breath work with Rebecca is truly in good hands.

I have knocked on different doors and processes, and I know ultimately that they brought me to Rebecca. During these weeks I have felt like I am finally cracking open all these layers that have hidden so many beliefs and hurts. Rebecca is a kind and loving soul who supports you, guides you, and becomes your cheer leader and coach; and she always reminds you that  your process is unique, and self-paced (I use that reminder constantly).
The meditations, breathing, and all the journaling helps you set a path for your mind to start unraveling all the secrets within. For someone like me who struggles with procrastination, having a weekly  session ( wake up call) has been a blessing. I need the accountability, and I marvel at all the things that have come through every time we embark on the healing conscious breathing.
I know this is just the beginning, and that there are a lot of things for me to do; but I am forever grateful to Rebecca for helping me see the light at the other side of the road.
